The Lilley Australia Day Awards (LADA) were established to recognise the generous contributions made by volunteers to our local community.
Most community organisations depend heavily on volunteers to carry out their aims and objectives. Volunteers are the backbone of youth groups, sports clubs, senior citizen clubs, community centres, veteran associations and church groups. A substantial number of volunteers make significant contributions in time and effort to ensure that many community organisations provide the services and support to a diverse range of needy people in the local community.
LADA recepients are presented with their awards at a public function held at the Kedron-Wavell Services Club on Australia Day of each year.
In addition to the personal Volunteer Awards, special awards are also made to not-for-profit organisations and business organisations that offer assistance to the local community. Not-for-profit organisations that make a significant contribution are recognised by the Ted Tremayne Award whilst individual businesses that make a significant contribution are recognised by The Brisbane Airport Corporation Business Award.
